Community expert panel

The purpose of the expert panels is to:

• Draw together policy strands and developments from across the professional community represented by the specialism
• Inform and advise SSAT on its strategy and programmes for working with specialist schools
• Share expertise that will benefit specialist schools.

Each expert panel should have representation from higher education, employers, subject associations, DfES, QCA, HMI and other government agencies as appropriate. Membership is by invitation and is not transferable.

Each panel has two representatives from the relevant head teacher steering group to ensure close working between the two groups and to ensure that the work of the expert panels is informed by a school perspective.
