Steering group

Chinese projects headteacher specialist steering group

We are pleased to announce the formation of a Chinese Network Headteachers’ Steering Group. The group will provide advice and guidance, and give direction, towards developing a strong programme of support focusing on the Trust’s work linked to China. We currently have 14 emerging workstreams, which build on pioneering work in both China and England.

Our aim will be to grow school capacity and harness system leadership to deliver a coherent framework of support. Working through iNet China, our office in Beijing and a dynamic schools network, we will provide pupils, practitioners and school leaders with a range of innovative and exciting opportunities to teach and learn about China and its culture and the Chinese language.

We are inviting nominations from schools for headteachers of affiliated schools who would like to be part of this newly-established steering group. Meetings will take place once a term and will allow time for travel on the day as the venue for each meeting will be in a different location, Travel expenses will be reimbursed to participants.

Katharine Carruthers, our national programme coordinator, Chinese Networks, will facilitate until a chair is elected. Please contact Katharine with any queries or for further information at katharine.carruthers@ssatrust.org.uk.

Nominations should be sent to Jenny Jupe, Director, Specialism & Vocational Networks Directorate, SSAT at jenny.jupe@ssatrust.org.uk. Please include a brief resume indicating your school’s current portfolio of work involving Mandarin or Chinese studies.
