Community languages

Welcome to the Community Languages Network

This section has been designed to recognise and support the multi-lingual diversity that exists within schools throughout the UK. Providing the opportunity to learn and maintain a community language enhances an individual’s self-esteem and contributes towards the feeling of being a valued citizen.

Through this site we aim to:

  • bring all those interested in the field closer together
  • support professional development
  • share good practice and ideas
  • facilitate and encourage the development and use of pupils’ home languages

We welcome any news items, case studies, web links or other contributions and ideas, which will help us to deliver the aims of the site. If you have any information or material that may be of interest, please email Samia Earle - National Specialism Coordinator: Languages - samia.earle@ssatrust.org.uk
